Lowkey Software LLC is the developer of Virtual Security Center, a software-as-a-service platform that helps organizations create and run a better cybersecurity program.
Lowkey is headquartered in East Aurora, a village in Western New York that is just outside of Buffalo. Dave Newell founded Lowkey in 2017 to bring Virtual Security Center to market but the company works closely with Loptr LLC, a specialized cybersecurity consulting firm (also founded by Dave and located just next door). Loptr has been working with local, small and mid-sized companies for years and serves as a proving ground for the ideas in Virtual Security Center as well as offering services to organizations that want extra help getting started with the software.
We created Virtual Security Center because we understood that a smaller organization has to meet the same security requirements (like the HIPAA Security Rule, New York’s 23 NYCRR 500 and SHIELD Act, FERPA, 201 CMR 17.00 in Massachusetts, PCI DSS, and so on) as large enterprises, but without the staff or budget. We wanted to give small to medium-sized organizations a chance to build a top-notch security program without breaking the bank.
